The First Tee LINK: Capital District Elementary School Programs
With school based programs, and three golf course sites in the capital district locations, The First Tee uses golf to teach youth ages 7 to 18 life lessons and leadership skills. Our first golf course session is underway in the Capital Region at Schenectady Municipal Golf Course. Expansion to Albany and Troy is expected in 2018.
PGA professionals Chris Bentrovato and Ryan Poltorak in partnership with First Tee Lead coach Frank Ciarlo directed the two five-day camps for over two dozen young people at Schenectady Municipal Golf Course Many volunteers helped the young players understand and implement the day's lesson. The First Tee LINK: On the Course in the Capital Region
In more than a dozen elementary schools across the capital region, many students enjoyed teeing it up for the first time, thanks to The First Tee National School Program funded by the Junior Golf Alliance of NY supported by First Tee Link of NY's Capital District.
Hundreds of students under the guidance of local PE teachers learned the basic skills of the lifelong sport of golf through safe and fun activities. Here at Zoller Elementary in Schenectady, 30 4th and 5th graders spent over a dozen after school sessions learning life and golf skills both indoors and outdoors on the playground.
Professional lady golfers from the Symetra Tour event in Albany took some time to share their love of the game with the Zoller kids.

Introducing The First Tee LINK of New York's Capital District
The First Tee LINK of NY's Capital District is an official program of the Junior Golf Alliance of NY. The program's goal is to reach children in each city with hands-on, interactive golf experiences. Through the game of golf, The First Tee LINK of NY's Capital District provides young people educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices. Whether through introductory programs at public and private schools, after school programs at several local courses, or week-long summer camp experiences, The First Tee LINK of NY's Capital District shows children golf is more than a game; it’s an opportunity to become the very best they can be.
